An investment manager focused on growth equity private investments, Kamaroopin (KMP) was launched in 2018 as an affiliate of SK Tarpon, the successor of Tarpon Investimentos (an investment company founded in 2002 in Brazil). Pedro de Andrade Faria, KMP’s Founder and Managing Partner, is also one of the founding partners of Tarpon and directly responsible for Tarpon’s private equity investments. KMP’s mission is to be a company builder, investing and supporting founders to establish long-lasting companies while delivering superior value creation to stakeholders. To accomplish this mission, KMP consolidates learning and experiences from previous investment activities at Tarpon, deploying and consolidating new investment approaches to late-stage venture and growth equities. Since its founding, KMP has originated and led the investment in a new vintage of growth companies — including Consorciei, Petlove and Zenklub — through a series of single deal structures primarily funded by partner’s capital and co-investors.
In late 2021, KMP entered a strategic partnership and received a significant investment from Patria Investments (“Patria”) — the leading alternative asset manager in Latin America (Nasdaq Stock Exchange: PAX). KMP and Patria are a leading presence in late-stage venture capital and growth equities, bolsterd by shared values and investment principles. This partnership has identified several opportunities to collaborate and strengthen their value proposition as both a life cycle investor and operating partner of exceptional companies throughout Latin America.
Taking a hands-on post-investment approach, KMP identitfies opportunities supported by secular trends, encompassing a robust value creation agenda that strengthens and differentiates a company’s value proposition. New strategic organic avenues, M&As, team reinforcement and robust governance agendas are key factors that seek to build long-lasting companies.
The Fund intends to primarily focus on sectors where KMP already has investment and operational experience, including but not limited to healthcare, pet care, education, financial services, and consumer and business services of the green economy.
For each one of the sectors under consideration, KMP thoroughly formulates investment theses with a focus on secular consumer trends that KMP believes are driven by innovation, technology, changes in consumer habits, and evolving aspirations.
